SplitBill_EX, multi-currency bill splitting (iOS / Android) / Last updated August 16, 2026

This is an English translation of the Japanese privacy policy. If the two differ, the Japanese version prevails.

Summary
There is no account. The app never asks for your name, email address or phone number, and it does not access your contacts, photos or health data.
Your bills are, as a rule, stored only on this device. However, only when you use a shared room is that bill data stored on a server managed by the developer (Section 3).
Also, to keep the app free, it shows ads. The data collected by the ad SDK is listed in Section 6.

1. What this app does not collect

There is no account. The app never asks for your name, email address or phone number, and it does not access your contacts, photos or health data. It does not get your location from the device's GPS either.

2. What is stored on your device

Participant names, bill amounts and breakdowns, settlement results and settings are stored only on this device. If you delete the app, they are deleted too.

3. If you use a shared room

When you create or join a room, participant names, bill contents and settlement results are stored in a Firebase Realtime Database managed by the developer, and everyone who uses the same room ID can view and edit them.

This system has no authentication. Anyone who knows the room ID can read and write the data, so please give the room ID only to the people you want to share with.

If you do not use a room, your bill data never leaves your device.

Deleting a room's data

You can delete it yourself from inside the app.

  1. Open the app and go to the Setup tab
  2. Go down to “Shared room” (it is shown only while you are in a room)
  3. Choose “Delete room data”
  4. Read the confirmation and choose “Delete room data” again

This erases all bills, participant names and settlement results stored in that room. They are completely deleted from the server and cannot be restored.

Because everyone in a shared room shares one record, deleting it also erases it for the other members. Please check before you delete. The bills stored on your own device remain as they are.

No particular retention period is set. A room's data is kept until it is deleted.

4. Getting exchange rates

When the app starts, it asks open.er-api.com for currency rates. Only the request for rates is sent; it contains none of your bills or personal information.

5. Information the developer receives

The developer manages the server that holds shared room data (Section 3), but does not otherwise receive any information that could identify you. For ads as well, the developer can see only totals, such as the number of impressions.

6. Information collected by the ad SDK

This app includes the SDK for Google's advertising service, Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). To deliver ads, measure their performance and diagnose problems, this SDK may collect the following data. It is Google, not the developer, that collects and uses it.

DataPurposeTracking
Device IDThird-Party Advertising, Analytics, Developer’s Advertising or MarketingYes
Coarse LocationAnalytics, Developer’s Advertising or Marketing, Third-Party AdvertisingNo
Product InteractionAnalytics, Third-Party Advertising, Developer’s Advertising or MarketingNo
Advertising DataDeveloper’s Advertising or Marketing, Analytics, Third-Party AdvertisingNo
Crash DataAnalyticsNo
Performance DataThird-Party Advertising, Developer’s Advertising or Marketing, AnalyticsNo
Other Diagnostic DataThird-Party Advertising, Developer’s Advertising or Marketing, AnalyticsNo

“Coarse Location” is a rough area estimated from the IP address used for the connection. The app does not access the device's GPS. “Crash Data”, “Performance Data” and “Other Diagnostic Data” are used for the SDK's diagnostics, and developer analytics tools (such as Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics) are not included.

This is the same information shown in the privacy details on the App Store product page. For how Google handles it, see Google's policy; for what the SDK collects, see Google's official documentation.

If you want to opt out of ad tracking

In the EU, the UK and Switzerland, a consent screen is shown on first launch. You can change your choices at any time from “Ad privacy settings” in the Setup tab.

If you buy the remove-ads subscription, the app stops showing and loading ads.

7. Subscription purchases

Payments are handled by Apple on iOS and by Google on Android. Payment details such as card numbers are never passed to this app, and the developer cannot see them. The only information the app receives is whether there is an active subscription.

8. Deleting the data on your device

If you delete the app, all bills, participant names, settlement results and settings stored on the device are erased. Delete shared room data separately, following the steps in Section 3.

9. Children's privacy

This app is not aimed at any particular age group, and the developer does not collect personal information from users.

10. Disclaimer

The exchange rates, settlement amounts and fee calculations shown by this app are estimates. The amount actually charged may differ depending on the card company's rate and when its fees are applied. The final decision on how to settle up is left to the user.

11. Changes

If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date revised.
